The active edge defines the work of this recent series. Wall based sculptures burst from the confines of a corner or the wall, pushing off the 2-D plane or exploding from the corner’s intersection of planes, pushing their edges into space. Translucent and opaque graphic planes are layered, folded, and bound together representing energy and information that is implied and only partially visible, on the cusp of emerging. Sinuous lines and hard edged arcs interplay as the viewer moves around the piece, revealing new layers of the form, as colors and pattern emerge from shadow, yielding a new view. The work embraces an expansive spectrum of form—from the ruffled rococo of the floral to an imagined and animated aerial form, resting on the wall. The series celebrates finding form in all its possibilities, marking the journey of metamorphosis and all of its many points of arrival.
